香港地理日2016
由地理與資源管理學系及香港地理學會合辦的「香港地理日2016」於11月19日假香港中文大學舉行。這個兩年一度的盛事旨在向大眾推廣地理知識,並為學術交流提供一個分享平台。本年度香港地理日主題為「適應轉變與提升可持續性:從香港出發」。開幕禮邀請到香港特別行政區政府規劃署署長凌嘉勤先生及香港中文大學AXA安盛地理與資源管理學講座教授劉雅章教授主禮。於開幕禮上,凌先生發表題為「為香港未來做好準備」的演說,講述對香港未來的願景,並強調香港應如何成為宜居、具競爭力及可持續發展的亞洲國際都會。在全球轉變的形勢下,香港與其他城市同樣面對各種機遇及挑戰。劉教授則分享了關於氣候轉變對香港造成的挑戰的觀點。隨後有多場研討會交流關於全球環境轉變及可持續發展的各個議題,有多位來自本港及廣州各大專院校的教授及研究生參與。
連串活動緊接開幕禮後舉行,包括地理學研討會、研究生論文及海報設計比賽、中學生地理講座、中學教師地理資訊系統工作坊、「源.區」參觀以及中大地理與資源管理學系開放日。各大學地理系、香港特區政府有關部門、非政府組織及商界組織亦於當日舉行有關地理教學及科研的展覽,顯示地理學科應用的廣泛性。是次活動有超過400名本地中學師生、本港大學的教授和研究生、以及來自廣州各大學的嘉賓學者參與。
Hong Kong Geography Day 2016
The Hong Kong Geography Day 2016, co-organized by the Department of Geography and Resource Management and the Hong Kong Geographical Association, was held on 19 November 2016 at CUHK. Geography Day is a biennial event aiming to promote geography knowledge among the public and also provides a platform for professional sharing. The main theme of this year is “Adapting Changes and Enhancing Sustainability: Hong Kong and Beyond”. The opening ceremony was officiated by Mr. Ling Kar Kan, JP, Director of Planning of the HKSAR Government, and Professor Gabriel Ngar-Cheung Lau, AXA Professor of Geography and Resource Management, CUHK. Mr. Ling delivered a keynote speech entitled “Make Hong Kong Tomorrow-ready”, which highlights the vision of Hong Kong to be a liveable, competitive and sustainable Asia’s World City. Similar to other cities, Hong Kong is facing numerous challenges and threats. Another keynote speaker, Prof. Lau, shared his views on the challenge of climate change from a Hong Kong perspective. Other distinguished scholars and research students from Hong Kong and Guangzhou were invited to deliver seminars on a variety of issues and challenges of global changes and sustainability.
Following the opening ceremony, a number of activities took place, such as University Research Seminars, Research Student Paper and Poster Competition, Secondary School Talks, GIS Workshop for Secondary School Teachers, GRM Open House, Visit to T · Park and board exhibitions by local universities, relevant departments of the HKSAR Government, NGOs and business community to display the information and their interrelationship with the discipline of geography. Over 400 students and teachers from local secondary schools, graduate students and professors from local universities, and guests from Guangzhou attended this event.
