The Academy for Sustainable Communities: Community Partnerships

The Academy for Sustainable Communities (the Academy) was established by the Policy for Sustainability Lab of the Faculty of Social Sciences at The University of Hong Kong in 2018 with a vision to become a regional knowledge exchange platform to disseminate knowledge of sustainability and incubate a new generation of change agents for sustainability. The Academy offers curriculum-based courses, seminars, forums and field-based activities covering sustainability-related knowledge and skill sets to change agents and public members locally and in the Region.

The “Community Partnerships” course is designed to provide basic theoretical foundations and applied skills in building community-based rural-urban partnerships. It looks into contemporary environmental, social and cultural challenges and how they can be managed sustainably through community partnerships and collaborations. It also explores different models of partnerships, tools and strategies that facilitate the successful analysis, design, development, implementation and management of sustainability and community projects.

 

Mode of Study: Part-time (classes on evenings and weekends)

Commencement Date: May 7, 2019 (Tuesday)

Application Deadline: April 18, 2019 (Thursday), Extended to April 23, 2019 (Tuesday)

Early bird discount: On or before March 29, 2019 (Friday) at 12:00 noon. Extended to April 8, 2019 (Monday) at 12:00 noon

Tuition Fee: HKD3,960 (expense for site visits is excluded)

Discount Policy:

  • 5% off early bird discount for applications submitted on or before March 29, 2019 (Fri) at 12:00 noon. Extended to April 8, 2019 (Monday) at 12:00 noon
  • 5% off companion discount for 2 or more applications
  • 5% off referral discount for academy fellows and thir referred applicants
  • 5% off discount for HKU graduates
  • 5% off discount for HKGA members
  • For other discount offers associated with professional bodies and other associations, please refer to the announcement of your affiliated organizations
  • Maximum discount per person is capped at 10% off
  • In case of disputes, the decision of the Academy shall be final
